Sanja Iveković

Sanja Iveković – a pioneer of video art, photomontage and performance, her art was associated with the generation of Yugoslavian artist questioning the policy and scope of freedom in the socialist paradise of the Third Way. Iveković’s feminist and conceptual works interrogate the existing social order, the tension between the private and the public/political, with a stress on the role played by the media. Thanks to her pro-women initiatives in the world of art, Iveković is recognized as one of the most important female artists working in recent decades.
