Adejoke Tugbiyele is a sculptor, performance artist and activist. She works mainly in the media of film, sculpture and performance. In her works she often alludes to the cosmology and aesthetics of the Yoruba people of which she is a member. She is interested in issues of spirituality and sexuality and their intertwining in her native Nigeria. She serves on the board of the Nigerian Women’s Health and Equal Rights (WHER) Initiative, an organization that addresses the rights of non-heterosexual women.
