Gloria Camiruaga

Gloria Camiruaga – was a Chilean visual artist and documentary maker, regarded as one of the pioneers of South American video art. She studied philosophy at the University of Chile and then visual arts at the San Francisco Art Institute in the US. Her films, performances and visual works concentrate primarily on the situation of women and other marginalized groups in Chilean public discourse during the Pinochet era. She won a Guggenheim Fellowship, and her works have been displayed at such venues as MoMA, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and museums and galleries in Brazil, France and the Netherlands.
